Van Halen Goes On Tour in 2012

Van Halen, one of the most popular rocks bands in the 1980s, will go on a US tour later in 2012. They have announced that tickets will go on sale in the middle of January, and specific tour dates have yet to be revealed. Van Halen has been around for decades and had heightened success in the 80s with songs like “Jump” and “Panama,” to name a few. Many longtime fans were delighted to hear the news of their upcoming tour with the original singer and band.

Van Halen’s front man in the 80s was David Lee Roth, and he was known for his energetic moves and high-pitched squeals in their hard rock songs. The band won awards and made videos for their many of their songs that were the height of 1980s popularity. They proved to be more than just another hair band of the decade.

Van Halen has reunited and brought the original lineup including the addition of Eddie Van Halen’s son. Eddie Van Halen will play guitar, David Lee Roth will sing, and Wolfgang Van Halen will play bass in the upcoming tour. Eddie Van Halen's brother will be the drummer in the tour, rounding out the lineup of the band.

In the late 80s and early 90s, the band had difficulty getting along and David Lee Roth was replaced by singer Sammy Hagar and briefly by Gary Cherone. Van Halen continued to have success and hits such as “Why Can’t This Be Love” and “Love Walks In” with Hagar as the front man. David Lee Roth reunited with Van Halen in 2006 and toured with them in 2008. The band got word out about their upcoming tour through videos on their website. The videos feature Van Halen practicing on stage and having fun since reuniting again. They did not discuss any dates, but with tickets going on sale January 10, a spring tour is anticipated.
