Wicked the Musical

Wicked is one of the longest running broad way musical that will also be on stage starting this October 2011 up to September 2012. Stephen Schwartz created the lyrics and formed the music for this apparently successful stage show. This is based on the book by L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.

Wicked the musical will give its audience a view of how the witches in the story became enemies from being friends. As told in the story The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy has to confront both the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North. Getting in the Land of Oz from Kansas, Dorothy is to save the Land of Oz from corruption. In the musical, the story of these two witches will be told. Featuring the misinterpreted green-skinned witch named Elphaba and the determined blonde witch Galinda. They are the highlights of the show as they struggle for love and rivalry in their opinions of the distorted land.

The broad way production has won three Tony Awards and got nominated ten times. Several more international awards were granted to this successful stage show like Drama Desk Awards, Grammy Award, Laurence Olivier Award and Helpmann Awards. Since then Wicked the musical continues to be a supported and favorite broadway show of its patrons. Despite criticisms on its seemingly government critical story, the musical show will remain on stage with their schedule of shows until 2012.

Wicked the musical will be around the United States starting this October. There will be production shows in Virginia, Illinois, Tennessee, Ohio, Iowa, California, Miami, Florida, Texas, Albania, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, South Carolina, North Carolina, Utah, Nevada and Kentucky. Succeeding shows will be seen in Singapore, London and Holland. Wicked the musical is also announcing a new set of cast by December 2012.
